This course introduces the student to basic concepts in nuclear medicine. IT Introduces you to radioactive decay mechanisms, including radiation spectra, detectors, gas filled, and solid-state scintillations. Thyroid uptake of radioactive iodine and other radioisotope tests of renal function, vitamin B₁₂ absorption,  the effect of radiation on the cell and mammalian tissues will be studied.
