This course introduces students to the nature, scope, and significance of research and research methodologies.

Additionally, the course studies primary and secondary research methods with applications to specific problems, using qualitative and quantitative designs for individual investigation on current problems within a student's area of interest. Students will complete an individual research proposal based on a business topic of interest, using the course’s textbooks and selected scholarly and peer-reviewed sources. 

The course is designed to enable students to learn how to select a research topic, conduct initial research; develop appropriate problem statements, develop research questions, and hypotheses. Additionally, students will get guidance on how to select and develop an appropriate research method, conduct, discuss and present a literature review and a research methodology suitable to the selected topic. Students will also learn how to use specified requirements in preparing scholarly research proposals, and demonstrate mastery of the nature, scope, and significance of research and research methodologies by achieving above 70% on each assignment, as outlined in the various learning days. Prerequisite: BUAD 595

Dear student,

Welcome to IT Project Management course. This is a 3 credit hours course  that is designed to equip the student with knowledge, skills and attitude that will enable him/her manage IT related projects efficiently. This course covers the factors necessary for successful management of I.T. system development and enhancement projects. Both the technical and behavioural aspects of project management are discussed, such as project management fundamentals, planning, estimation and budget scheduling, risk and change management, development management, project control, system test process, final phases and other issues.

By the end of the course, the learner should be able to:-

  • Understand the genesis of project management and its importance to improving the success of information technology projects
    • Demonstrate knowledge of project management terms and techniques such as

– The triple constraint of project management

– The project management knowledge areas and process groups

– The project life cycle

– Tools and techniques of project management such as

  • Project selection methods
  • Work breakdown structures
  • Network diagrams, critical path analysis, and critical chain scheduling
  • Cost estimates
  • Earned value management

Each of the above objectives is divided into several topics and each topic has some resources and activities to enhance understanding. Some resources and activities can only be accessed within specified times and the student is advised to be checking on the availability of these items.

This course will be delivered through a blended learning platform, which means that class notes, resources, and activities will be available on the elearning site. Scheduled Face-to-Face classes will be used for discussions and practicals. It is therefore incumbent on you as the student interact with the course materials before class time to facilitate a fruitful discussion during class time. Interaction with the course Lecturer will be through the online forums, chats, and face-to-face sessions.

Lengo la somo hili n kuwasidia wanafunzi hao kutumia lugha ya Kiswahili ya kiswahili kwa ufasaha wake katika mawasiliano ya kawaida.   Ili kufikia malengo haya, kozi hii itaangazia masuala kama vile:  dhana ya lugha, umuhimu wa kujifunza Kiswahili, hali ya Kiswahili hivi sasa, sauti za Kiswahili, maneno, sentensi na maana ya maneno mbali mbali.  Kwa sababu hii historia fupi na tamaduni za Kiswahili pamoja na stadi zote za mawasiliano kuanazia kusikiliza, kuzungumza, kusoma na kuandika zitazingatiwa ili kuwezesha mwanafunzi kuwaza, kuomba, kuagiza, kufuata maagizo, kusoma na kuwasiliana kwa njia ya Kiswahili kwa kiasi katika shughuli zake za kila siku.  Kozi hii basi, itakupa ilhamu na ujuzi wa kuweza  kuwasiliana kiwa kutumia lugha ya Kiswahili.
