This course will delve into data analysis focusing on Statistics and frequency distribution, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion or variability and statistical maps. Basic techniques in geographic research and their limitations. Use of analytical and inferential methods including hypothesis testing, the normal distribution, data transformation, probability, sampling, parametric and nonparametric methods, and correlation will also be introduced. Aspects such as network analysis (river system), network pattern, network description using beta and gamma indices and communications networks, point patterns, area patterns, etc. Prerequisite: GEOG 130, or permission of department chair.
