The purpose of this course is to assist students to develop in-depth knowledge of various issues regarding HIV/AIDS and the care of the affected persons.  The course emphasizes the role of the family members in love and forgiveness in the care of the person infected with HIV and also forgiveness of self by the person suffering from the disease.  The topics that will be covered include Epidemiology of the disease, role of voluntary counseling, perception of HIV/AIDS prevention and management from a global perspective, antiretroviral therapy in the current global economic situation, evaluation of global control strategies, global policies and legislation on HIV/AIDS prevention, health promotion and positive living., management of tuberculosis and other opportunistic infections, World Health Organization guidelines, global policies, and advocacy levels, social-cultural aspects that influence the transmission and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
