The course NGO Management and Leadership is designed to enable learners to understand the meaning of NGOs and their work and role in community development. It will also develop key management and leadership competencies and analytical capabilities needed by those who may be in leadership and management of local and in international NGOs.

 

The course will be conducted online and will cover the basic principles of management and the functions of a manager in planning, organizing, staffing, directing, controlling, communicating, problem identifying, and decision-making models. It also includes the study of and styles of leadership; different motivation techniques; evaluation of leadership and management organs and functions. Emphasis on NGOs, their history, the key conceptual concerns; the skills and tools for their Management. NGOs within the legal framework; NGOs and other actors in global and local socio-economic development contexts. The dynamics of the NGO sector in a broader development and global social change context: the position of NGOs in the development process.
