UNIT PURPOSE

This course is a continuation of NRSG 423: Nursing Research Methods; building upon the concepts learned.  It focuses on implementing a research project based on the proposal written in the previous course.  Critique of research literature and evidence based practice will be emphasized.  Additionally students will be assisted to gain experience in the research process. 

At the end of the project students are expected to produce a 30-50 page bound report.  Students are encouraged to summarize the report for publication in a research journal.

 

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOME

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Appreciate the research process.
  2. Identify necessary steps in implementing a research proposal.
  3. Develop basic skill in critique of research reports.
  4. Develop skills in analyzing data.
  5. Identify the significance of common statistical measurements.
  6. Gain basic skills in research report writing.
  7. Develop skill in searching  relevant literature as a basis for evidence based practice.

Complete the project and produce a bound report:
