This course introduces the learner to the general principles and methods of teaching in a classroom setting. Topics covered include; basic concepts of teaching and learning, qualities of an effective teacher, instructional objectives, planning for teaching, classroom communication, design, selection and use of instructional materials for effective teaching and learning, instructional methods: lecture, demonstration, discussion, seminar method, team teaching, the project method, the workshop method, demonstration, simulation, role playing, brainstorming, discovery, experimentation, question and answer method, and programmed instruction.
